My intent for making this website is to give beginner students some basic keyboard skills so that they can understand the language of music. By learning all twelve Major Scales, The Circle, Major and Minor triads, 7-3 voicings, and II V I chord progressions, the student will gain a great amount of knowledge. Whether you are a beginner, young or old, or perhaps you play an instrument other than piano and you want to broaden your skills, there is something here for you. Everything offered on the site is free. No subcriptions. So you can view the videos as often as you like until you gain proficency in the excercises. I've made pdf's of the exercises that you can view and download. You can email me with any questions and I will be happy to answer them, As I always say, be fearless, be sensible, and most of all, be musical.
Sincerely,
Carter Luke
Ever since I was 11 years old I knew I was going to be a musician. My first instrument was the snare drum in the school band in 1st grade. Then, by my request, I started taking piano lessons and learned to read music. In 6th grade I started playing alto saxophone in the other school band. When I got to high school I switched to Baritone Sax so that I could be in the Jazz Band. After high school I eventually ended up at the Dick Grove School of Music in Studio City, California. This is where I learned enough about music to become a professional and I thankfully have been working ever since. Somewhere along the way I started teaching privately to supplement my income and after 30+ years I've decided to try and help a broader base of people who have the desire and drive to learn. I continue to work as a pianist/keyboard player/teacher and I continue to try and grow as a musician.
